Patent Attorney

Invisix·Netherlands

About Invisix Semiconductor manufacturers can't build what they can't measure. Invisix Measuring Systems is a fast-growing scale-up in the high-tech industry, developing next-generation metrology solutions for the semiconductor sector. We work at the intersection of optics, software, and data. We're a small team, but the depth of knowledge inside Invisix is anything but small. Our culture is professional and fast-paced, with short communication lines and a strong sense of shared purpose. Everyone here is committed, and everyone knows their work directly contributes to something bigger. The Role As our first dedicated Patent Attorney, you will build and own Invisix's IP protection strategy from the ground up. You decide what deserves to be patented, guide our inventions through the patenting process, and make sure our freedom to operate is never in question. You will work closely with our engineers and scientists, translate their ideas into defensible IP, and manage the external patent attorneys who draft and file on our behalf. This is a role for someone with a strong technical background who made the switch into IP law and is equally comfortable discussing hardware and software with our engineers as negotiating with outside counsel. A great opportunity to own this process and have the possibility to build strategy and execution. You will report directly to our CEO, with frequent interaction with other members of the senior leadership team. What You'll Do • Own and manage Invisix's growing patent portfolio. • Assess the patentability of new ideas submitted by our hardware and software teams and prioritize them. Identify when ideas should be published, or made a trade secret, instead of being patented. • Run the patent filing process together with our external consultants and hold them to a high standard. • Safeguard our freedom to operate by identifying gaps in our patent portfolio and organize brainstorms to help close them. • Develop an excellent overview and understanding of our licensed IP. • Stay up to date on patent activity in our sector and the IP position of our competitors • Meet regularly with engineers to understand what they are working on, explore new hardware and software ideas, encourage them to flag ideas worth patenting, and check them against existing patents. • Identify generalizations of the ideas submitted by engineers to broaden claim scope and strength. • Design an efficient internal process and guide ideas through that process: from a first quick first assessment via various steps to filing of new patents and the maintenance of our existing patent portfolio • Set up a lightweight training so engineers know how to spot a patentable idea and understand the basics of IP risk. • Support commercial and leadership conversations. Partnerships, supplier or customer contracts, investor due diligence. Wherever IP questions come up. Is This You? • A qualified patent attorney with a strong technical background. • A PhD in physics (or a closely related technical field) to be able to properly judge the ideas that cross your desk. • A confident communicator who's equally comfortable with leadership, engineers, inventors, and external counsel. • Someone who can make a fast, sound first call on an invention, then knows when to dig deeper. • A facilitator by nature: you make the process run, without needing to be the centre of it. • Curious and proactive with a strong desire to understand the technology we work on. You spot patentable ideas in our existing technology before anyone flags them for you. Your First Weeks and Months • Set up the entire patenting process from end to end, from intake to filing. • Build relationships with our external patent attorneys and other outside parties. • Immerse yourself in our technology and our extensive existing patent portfolio. • Meet the team: get to know your colleagues across the company so you understand where the real opportunities and challenges lie. What We Offer • A full-time role (40 hours/week) with real ownership over how we build our IP protection function. • A competitive salary that reflects your specialized legal and technical background. • The chance to shape Invisix's IP strategy from scratch, reporting directly to our CEO. • A professional, fast-paced scale-up culture built around a shared sense of purpose. Interested? If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd like to hear from you, even if you only recognize yourself in part of this description. Submit your resume, and let's find out together if there's a match. If this isn't quite the right position for you but you're still interested in Invisix, reach out to us at hr@invisix.nl Diversity & Inclusion We're committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, where ideas and individuals flourish. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and judge candidates on merit and potential contribution, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, or other identity characteristics. Executive Assistant to the CEO

The Role You will be the CEO's executive assistant, and the person in the company who is best at making AI do administrative work. Most of the job is what you would expect from an EA to a CEO at a small technical company: keeping the CEO's day sane, triaging her inbox, booking travel for the leadership team, hosting visitors, and making sure the office simply works. What is different is how we want it done. Wherever a task repeats, we want you to build the automation that removes it. The measure of success is not how much you do by hand but how much of the leadership team's administrative load quietly disappears over your first year. You will spend most of your time supporting the CEO and about a third supporting the rest of the leadership team. You will be the first person in this function, so you will set it up the way you think it should run. You will work closely with our Chief of Staff. What you will do Automate the operating layer Design and maintain the workflows that run the leadership team's admin: inbox triage and drafting, meeting preparation and follow-up, expense processing, travel booking, CRM and document hygiene, and board and investor reporting packs. Use whatever fits the task. As a deep-tech company we think about things like: LLM assistants (Claude) and their agent. Or even low-code automation (Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, Make) and simple scripts. We would like you to think outside of the box! Know when a tool is good enough to trust and when a human still must look. Show colleagues what you built so they can use it too, and inspire engineers to automate their own workflows. Run the CEO's day Resolve calendar conflicts, help team members gain access when they need it, protect deep-work time, and prepare her for what is coming. Triage the inbox daily: answer what you can, draft what she should send, flag what needs a decision, and let the rest go. Prepare briefing notes and face lookbooks before important meetings. Track commitments made in meetings and make sure they close. Handle logistics for the leadership team Book flights, hotels, ground transport and visas for trips, including last-minute changes. Be on call during important international travel by the leadership team in case of emergencies. Process expenses and reimbursements. Coordinate visiting customers, investors and partners, and help organise team events and offsites. Keep the office running Keep the office stocked, the meeting rooms working, and the visitor experience good. Help new hires land: desks, accounts, first-week logistics. Facilitate the administrative things that otherwise land on engineers. Is this you? We care more about how you think than about your CV. But it would be great if you recognize yourself in: You already love using AI tools to do real administrative work, and you can show us something you built that saved you or someone else meaningful time. Prompting well is the baseline; connecting tools, handling the failure cases, and knowing where the limits are is the skill. You have supported a senior executive or leadership team before, in any sector, and you know what it takes to keep one running without being asked. You are organised in a way that survives interruptions. Several people will bring you urgent things at once; you can hold the list, prioritise it, and communicate what you did. You have excellent written and spoken English, you are discreet with the sensitive documents you'll see, and you are pleasant to work with — this is a small team, and the person in this role plays a real part in setting the tone. Dutch is a plus, but not required. You are comfortable in a technical environment. You do not need to understand physics, but you should be at ease among people who do, and curious enough to pick up the vocabulary. Nice to have, but please apply if you don’t have it (yet): Microsoft 365 administration hero Experience with international travel and visa logistics Basic scripting (Python or similar) A background in a hardware or deep-tech company Experience with Dutch office administration What we offer A role with a clear mandate, direct access to the founders, and the freedom to build the function from scratch Competitive salary and benefits, including an Employee Share Ownership Plan A learning and development budget to support your growth, including a budget for the AI tools you want to try An office in the heart of Eindhoven, a 5-minute walk from the train, full of people building something that has not been built before Interested? If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd like to hear from you, even if you only recognise yourself in part of this description. Submit your resume, and let's find out together if there's a match. If this isn't quite the right position for you but you're still interested in Invisix, reach out to us at hr@invisix.nl. Algorithm Architect

The Role The Algorithm Architect provides technical leadership for the algorithms that turn raw measurement data into accurate, trusted physical parameters. They own the architecture of the data-processing, data-conditioning and model-based reconstruction algorithms used across the measurement pipeline, and act as the technical anchor for the algorithm engineering team's day-to-day work. This person sets technical direction, decides which algorithmic approaches to apply and why, identifies improvements and defines the roadmap to meet them. This is an individual-contributor role: you won't have direct reports or formal people-management duties, but technical leadership and mentorship of the algorithm engineering team are a core, explicit part of what you do. The role works closely with the Software Architect, who owns the software engineering practices and infrastructure the algorithms run on. You'll report directly to our Program Manager Software, Andrea Caponio. What you will do: Own architecture and design decisions for the algorithms used in data-conditioning, data-processing and measurement reconstruction. Translate requirements from other engineering and field-application functions into concrete algorithm requirements. Define the compute hardware specifications (e.g. CPU/GPU capacity) needed to meet the product's measurement throughput targets. Collaborate with the Software Architect on engineering standards for the algorithm codebase, and support the team's adoption of them. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the algorithm engineering team. Direction-setting, coaching, and unblocking, as a core part of the role. Define what “good” looks like for algorithm performance. Accuracy, robustness, and convergence criteria, and the roadmap toward trusting results with less manual expert review over time. Is this you? PhD in computational physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field (preferred). 8+ years of experience post-PhD, including technical leadership or mentoring of other engineers or scientists. Deep knowledge of computational optical methods, specifically Fourier optics. Significant depth in at least one of: solving differential equations, optimization, or machine learning, with solid working judgment across the others. Background in inverse problems and model-based reconstruction, or a closely adjacent computational field (e.g. computational imaging, tomography, geophysical inversion). Awareness of good software-engineering practice (testing, reproducibility, versioning). Experience explaining algorithmic trade-offs clearly to non-specialist audiences. Applied judgment: you can conceptualize a problem, choose the right algorithmic approach, and justify why, thinking in terms of KPIs rather than a checklist of past projects. Deadline-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership over end-to-end results. Your first weeks and months Get up to speed with Invisix's measurement pipeline, current algorithms, and where the biggest technical bets lie. Meet the algorithm engineering team and the Software Architect, and start shaping how the two roles work together day to day. Review the current state of our data-conditioning, data-processing and reconstruction algorithms, and identify where the architecture needs to evolve. Start defining the roadmap and the success criteria for algorithm performance. What we offer A full-time role (40 hours/week) with real technical ownership over Invisix's core algorithms. A competitive salary and other nice benefits. The chance to shape the algorithmic backbone of our measurement technology from a senior individual-contributor seat, without management overhead. A professional, fast-paced scale-up culture built around a shared sense of purpose. Interested? If this sounds like your kind of challenge, we'd like to hear from you, even if you only recognize yourself in part of this description. Submit your resume, and let's find out together if there's a match. If this isn't quite the right position for you but you're still interested in Invisix, reach out to us at hr@invisix.nl.
